We are working with a growing multi-disciplinary consultancy, founded in 2003, that has built a strong reputation for quality and technical excellence. Their team includes chartered building surveyors, architects, engineers, designers and cost consultants—all in-house—allowing them to offer end-to-end services from master planning and early feasibility through to design, construction oversight, building maintenance and facilities management.

Their key sectors are education (Nursery, Early Years, Primary, Secondary, SEN, Academies, Free Schools, Sixth Form) and residential (private / affordable housing, retrofit / refurbishment) projects. They have delivered numerous learning environment projects for schools, colleges, academy trusts, local authorities and dioceses. Sustainability is central to their design approach: they are committed to aligning with the latest specifications (e.g. DfE), pushing for Net Zero, energy-efficiency and social value.

The Role

You will take charge of major building surveying work, both as project manager and/or contract administrator, across education and residential sectors. The kind of work you’ll do includes:

  • Leading condition & measured surveys, defect and feasibility studies, producing technical reports and specifications.
  • Preparing tender documentation, procurement, contract management.
  • Overseeing site inspections, ensuring compliance with regulations, safety, contract requirements.
  • Managing projects through design, construction and close-out phases, liaising with clients, contractors, consultants.
  • Helping to embed sustainability and energy efficiency in building interventions.
  • Mentoring junior staff, maintaining high standards of technical output.
  • Probably helping with cost estimates, fee proposals, potentially supporting funding / grant applications for public sector / educational clients.

About you

You should have a solid background in building surveying, ideally with experience in education and residential projects. Strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple live projects are essential. MRICS status is preferred but not essential—applications are welcome from experienced surveyors who can demonstrate a strong track record of delivering projects independently and to a high standard.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary up to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Hybrid working with flexibility for office and site-based days
  • 25 days annual leave plus public holidays, with the option to purchase additional leave
  • Pension contribution scheme
  • Support for professional development, including MRICS chartership if applicable
  • Company-sponsored training and CPD opportunities
  • Travel and site expenses covered
  • Collaborative, supportive working environment with career progression opportunities
  • Pension 5%
