Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Chartered Building Surveyor to join their growing team, working as a trusted adviser to a substantial and diverse commercial and residential property portfolio across London and the Home Counties.
Unlike a traditional consultancy role where you'll be managing numerous external clients, this position offers the opportunity to work closely with a single, well-established property owner and investor. You'll become an integral part of a retained professional team, delivering a broad range of Building Surveying and Project Management services across an existing portfolio.
Offering an excellent blend of professional services and project work, this role provides the variety and technical challenge of consultancy, combined with the continuity, ownership and strategic involvement more commonly associated with an in-house client-side position.
As a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor, you'll be responsible for delivering a broad range of professional Building Surveying services alongside managing refurbishment and redevelopment projects from inception through to completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing refurbishment and redevelopment projects across commercial and residential assets.
Acting as Project Manager, Contract Administrator and Employer's Agent.
Preparing specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation using NBS software.
Managing tender processes, analysing returned tenders and providing recommendations.
Undertaking commercial dilapidations instructions, predominantly acting on behalf of landlords.
Negotiating and agreeing dilapidations settlements.
Carrying out building inspections, defect diagnosis and preparing detailed technical reports.
Reviewing tenant alterations and licence applications.
Preparing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) reports and capital expenditure programmes.
Producing schedules of condition for lease agreements and Party Wall matters.
Advising on current legislation, including energy efficiency and EPC compliance.
Managing Party Wall matters where appropriate.
To be successful, you'll ideally possess:
MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor status.
A Building Surveying degree.
A minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience.
Previous experience gained within private practice, consultancy or a client-side environment.
Strong technical knowledge across both professional Building Surveying and project delivery.
Experience working across commercial and residential property.
Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
The ability to manage your own workload with minimal supervision.
A proactive, commercially minded approach with strong client-facing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and NBS software.
Experience using AutoCAD or Horizon software would be advantageous but is not essential.
Salary up to £85,000
