Assistant Project Manager - Construction Consultancy

London | £40,000 - £45,000 + benefits

A well-established, independent construction consultancy is looking to appoint an Assistant Project Manager to join its growing London team.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who is already working within a construction consultancy or professional services environment and is looking to take the next step in their career. You'll gain exposure to larger, more complex projects while working closely with experienced Project Managers and Directors.

The business delivers schemes across the industrial, data centre and commercial sectors, offering a strong pipeline of work, hands-on responsibility and a clear pathway towards chartership and progression.

The role

You'll support the delivery of projects from early design stages through to completion, working as part of a collaborative consultancy team and maintaining regular client interaction.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the management of projects across the full lifecycle, from inception through to handover
  • Assisting with project planning, reporting, risk management and governance processes
  • Coordinating with clients, design teams, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery
  • Supporting NEC contract administration and maintaining key project documentation
  • Attending and contributing to client, design and site meetings
  • Monitoring progress and helping to ensure projects are delivered to agreed time, cost and quality objectives

This is a hands-on consultancy role offering genuine client exposure and involvement in the commercial and contractual aspects of project delivery.

About you

This role is suited to candidates who already understand how projects are delivered within a consultancy environment.

You will typically have:

  • 1-3 years' experience within a construction consultancy or client-side project environment
  • A degree in a construction-related discipline such as Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying or similar
  • Experience supporting the delivery of construction projects and familiarity with consultancy processes and project governance
  • Exposure to contract administration (NEC knowledge beneficial) and experience working in client-facing environments
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and confidence managing multiple stakeholders
  • A proactive attitude and a clear ambition to work towards professional chartership (APM, RICS or similar)

Please note: This is not an entry-level position or a role for candidates looking to transition from unrelated sectors. Previous experience within a construction consultancy or professional services environment is essential.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected consultancy that invests in its people, offers exposure to high-profile projects and provides a supportive environment for long-term career development.
