Assistant Building Surveyor - Cambridge

£30,000 - £45,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

An established multidisciplinary property consultancy with one of the UK's largest Building Surveying teams is looking to appoint an Assistant Building Surveyor to join its growing Cambridge office.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone part-way through their APC or with early post-graduate experience who is looking to build a long-term career within a highly respected consultancy. You'll be joining a supportive, well-structured team with a strong track record of developing surveyors through to Chartership.

The Cambridge office offers a modern, high-quality working environment in a well-connected location, making it easily commutable from across the region.

What does it look like?

You'll gain exposure to a broad range of professional and project-led Building Surveying services across sectors including commercial, education, industrial and residential.

Day-to-day you will be:

  • Assisting with the delivery of building surveys, condition reports and technical due diligence
  • Supporting contract administration duties across refurbishment and maintenance projects
  • Preparing specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation
  • Undertaking defect analysis and reporting
  • Assisting with dilapidations instructions and negotiations
  • Supporting reinstatement cost assessments and PPM schedules
  • Attending site inspections and client meetings

You'll work closely with senior surveyors and directors, gaining hands-on experience while progressing towards Chartership.

What you need to do the job:

  • Degree in Building Surveying or a RICS-accredited related discipline
  • Working towards APC / MRICS (or planning to start)
  • Some practical experience in a Building Surveying role (consultancy or client-side)
  • Strong interest in both professional services and project work
  • Good technical grounding in construction and building pathology
  • Confident communication skills and a professional approach with clients
  • Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple instructions

Ultimate package:

  • Competitive salary between £30,000 - £45,000
  • Structured APC support with mentorship from experienced Chartered Surveyors
  • Clear progression pathway within a large, growing consultancy
  • Exposure to a wide variety of high-quality projects and clients
  • Modern Cambridge office in a highly accessible location
  • Hybrid/flexible working arrangements
  • Generous holiday allowance + option to buy more
  • Pension scheme and life assurance
  • Private healthcare
  • Professional subscriptions paid
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Social, collaborative team culture
