Based in Blackfriars, this established independent consultancy has been operating for over 20 years and has built a strong reputation across Building Surveying, Project Management, Cost Consultancy, Development Monitoring and Building Safety & Compliance.
The business has continued to grow and has developed a strong team environment with excellent staff retention. Directors remain closely involved in projects, giving senior members of the team direct access to experienced professionals and exposure to technically challenging work.
The position sits within the Building Consultancy team, which provides a full range of Building Surveying services, with a particular focus on Project Management and Contract Administration.
The team has also expanded its Building Safety and Compliance offering, with increasing work across the residential and Higher Risk Building sectors.
As an Associate, you'll be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing your own instructions from initial enquiry through to completion and billing, while also working alongside Directors on larger and more complex projects.
A key part of the role will be developing existing client relationships, generating new business and contributing to the continued growth of the Building Consultancy team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing Building Surveying instructions from inception through to completion.
Acting as Project Manager and Contract Administrator on a range of projects.
Undertaking building surveys, defect investigations and technical reporting.
Preparing specifications, tender documentation and contract documentation.
Managing contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.
Providing technical and legal advice to clients where required.
Working across residential and commercial property.
Supporting projects within the Higher Risk Building sector.
Working alongside Directors and senior management on larger and more complex instructions.
Managing and developing existing client relationships.
Generating new business opportunities and contributing to fee generation.
Taking responsibility for your own workload, project delivery and billing.
Supporting the continued development of the Building Safety and Compliance offering.
Mentoring and supporting more junior members of the team where appropriate.
There is also the opportunity to develop your experience around the Principal Designer role under CDM Regulations and the Building Regulations, with additional training available.
The majority of work is across Greater London, with some projects throughout the South of England and occasional travel further afield.
You'll be exposed to a varied portfolio including:

Technical surveying and consultancy
You'll ideally be:
MRICS qualified.
An experienced Building Surveyor with around 5+ years' post-qualification experience.
Operating at Senior Surveyor / Associate level with the ambition to continue progressing.
Strong technically, with a good understanding of relevant building and property legislation.
Experienced across Project Management and Contract Administration.
Comfortable managing instructions independently with minimal supervision.
Confident dealing directly with clients, contractors and consultants.
Commercially aware, with experience developing client relationships and generating work.
A self-starter who is ambitious and wants to contribute to the wider growth of the business.
Interested in developing their knowledge of Building Safety and the Principal Designer role.
Experience within Higher Risk Buildings, Building Regulations or Principal Designer duties would be beneficial, although additional training can be provided.
There is a clear progression structure within the business, with previous employees developing their careers from graduate level through to senior and board-level positions.
For the successful candidate, there is a genuine opportunity to progress from Associate to Associate Director and beyond, with progression based on technical ability, performance, client development and contribution to the wider business.
Following completion of probation, employees can utilise the company's flexible working policy, allowing for up to two days working from home per week, with the remainder split between the London office and project sites.
