Sector Insights: the growth of health & safety in construction

The construction industry is one of the most vital sectors of our economy, but it's also one of the most hazardous. Workers in construction face a range of hazards, from falls and electrical shocks to chemical exposure and heavy machinery accidents. Health and safety concerns have become a top priority for construction companies worldwide, and this has led to a significant growth within the construction health and safety industry.

Driven, in part, by some major accidents, governments around the world are introducing new regulations to ensure that construction companies prioritise safety in all their operations. This has led to a growing demand for, in particular, safety consultants, safety training providers, and safety equipment suppliers.

Advances in technology have led to the development of new safety equipment, such as wearable sensors that can monitor a worker's vital signs and detect hazards in real-time, which are already proving they're worth their weight in gold.  The use of drones in construction has also made it easier to conduct safety inspections of construction sites, reducing the risk of accidents.

With the benefit of this technology, safety consultants, safety trainers, and safety equipment suppliers are able to respond to the key risks and pressures on their sites. The commitment that the construction health and safety industry is showing to a rapidly growing construction sector is tantamount to the overall growth and stability of the entire industry being safe and productive.
