Retrofit Lead - Building Surveyor

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Building Surveyor with a specialisation in retrofit to spearhead the growth of this service line for a leading property company in Central London. As a Retrofit Specialist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the sustainability, energy efficiency, and overall performance of existing buildings. 

About the position:

You will be expected to undertake the following:

• Conduct thorough and detailed assessments of existing buildings to identify areas for improvement, including energy consumption, thermal performance, ventilation, and water efficiency.
• Perform energy audits and sustainability evaluations to establish baseline data and assess potential carbon reduction measures in retrofit projects.
• Evaluate the building envelope for weaknesses, air leakage, and insulation deficiencies, recommending appropriate measures to enhance thermal performance and minimize energy loss.
• Examine existing HVAC, lighting, and water systems to identify opportunities for upgrading or replacement with more energy-efficient alternatives.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed retrofit projects, considering budget constraints and potential return on investment.
• Advise on the use of eco-friendly and sustainable building materials during retrofit projects to reduce the environmental impact.
• Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to develop retrofit strategies that align with the overall project goals and timelines.
• Oversee the implementation of retrofit projects, ensuring that designs are executed correctly and in accordance with industry best practices and sustainability principles.
• Establish post-retrofit performance benchmarks and conduct regular monitoring to assess the effectiveness of energy-saving measures and make adjustments as needed.

About you:

• Bachelor's degree in Building Surveying and MRICS-accreditation (Building Surveying pathway) 
• Experience: Proven experience as a Building Surveyor with a specific focus on retrofit projects. Prior involvement in sustainable retrofit projects and knowledge of building performance assessment tools is highly desirable.
