Role: Junior Principal Designer / CDM Advisor

Location: South East London

Salary Range: £35,000 - £40,000.

Carriera has partnered with a well-established independent property & construction consultancy who operate across the Southeast. Our client offers a variety of professional services to their clients in the built environment including – building surveying, quantity surveying, architecture, and H&S/ CDM.

Due to several key framework wins and the business growing over the past year, they are in a position to hire a Junior Principal Designer/ CDM Advisor to join their experienced team and start on their own learning path, you will be given support from day one and an excellent platform to learn with a growing company with strong connections throughout South London.

The role will involve assisting project surveyors in day-to-day H&S / CDM matters and advising on risk mitigation whilst creating, maintaining, and improving the health, safety, environmental and quality standards to both our clients and internal teams. Provide additional Health and safety resource to the business. You will champion HSEQ / ISO initiatives in the workplace whilst ensuring that legislation is adhered to.

Qualifications:

• H&S based accreditations with up-to-date CPD (IOSH/IIRSM) – desirable.
• Membership to APS (preferred).
  Construction experience.
• NEBOSH Cert General/Construction (interest in other specialisms such as fire /environmental) – desirable.

Experience:

• The candidate will display basic health and safety knowledge; experience in residential projects is favourable.
• Demonstratable experience as a Junior Principal Designer or CDM Advisor role.
• Knowledge of Approved Documents, ACOPS and guidance documents.
• Construction background or knowledge and understanding of construction techniques
• and processes.
• Ability to read construction drawings and understand technical details.
  Confident to be able to participate in meetings and challenge duty holders and
• stakeholders on health and safety matters.
  Display an awareness and understanding of commercial and business activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation of Pre-Construction information and review Construction Phase Plans.
• Raising and issuing F10 notifications.
• Assist Designers in their obligation to provide Designer Risk Assessments.
• Compile and manage Design Risk Registers and ensure closing out design related issues.
• Attend Design Team Meetings, resolving design related health and safety issues.
• Carry out regular CDM site audits and attending progress meetings.
• Compile Health & Safety files during the project for the client at handover.
• Working with Clients and Contractors to provide advice on Health and Safety practices on
• site, in design and future maintenance.
