Carriera is proud to partner exclusively with The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea who are in the process of appointing a Head of Fire Safety to lead on all aspects of fire safety for its housing stock across the borough. This is an essential position within the organisation and requires a competent and experienced fire safety professional with an excellent understanding of fire safety to help develop and grow this area for the local authority.

RBKC manages a portfolio of over 9,500 (800 - 1000 buildings) properties throughout the borough, from 32 high rise blocks, low level street dwellings, sheltered accommodation and HMO's etc. Although one of the smallest boroughs in London it is one of the most densely populated and diverse areas in Europe, it boasts an array of unique buildings, historic museums and beautiful parks.

Responsibilities:

• Lead on all aspects of fire safety, repairs and improvements on a strategic and operational level for all RBKC housing stock.
• Ensure that all housing stock meets both statutory and non-statutory fire safety requirements and that all relevant legislation and building standards are met.
• Provide a professional advisory services in all matters relating to fire safety.
• Lead on strategic policy and procedure development.
• Ensure contractor compliance with fire safety legislation.
• Prepare, evaluate and implement fire emergency strategy for a wide range of building designs working with London Fire Brigade.
• Contribute to the strategic planning of the fire safety services.
• Responsibility for fire safety training across Housing Management.
• Manage a team of 13 fire safety professionals and look to grow and develop the service further.

Requirements:

• Degree in Fire Engineering or similar engineering discipline.
• Membership to IFE (GIFireE, AIFireE or MIFireE).
• Membership to IFSM (AIFSM or MIFSM).
• Extensive knowledge of current relevant building contracts and building standards.
• 5 - 10 years experience working within fire safety of fire engineering.
• Excellent knowledge of BS 9999, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 & PAS 79
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
