Carriera has an amazing opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced Principal Designer / CDM adviser to join a tight-knit team of professionals, at a multi-disciplinary practice where you will work with a variety of high-profile clients in London, the Midlands, and the Home Counties.

About the role

Our client, established almost 40 years ago, have been providing construction consultancy services for high profile clients in both the public and private sectors and continue to gain a enviable reputation for quality of service and value. They are currently looking to expand their health and safety departments and are seeking a knowledgeable candidate who can showcase their talent, and hit the floor running as a principal designer, assisting a small team on some medium to large scale projects.

You will be working on a multitude of projects across London, the Midlands & Home Counties. You will be carrying out the duties of Principal Designer / CDM Support Advisor as appropriate on behalf of the company for appointed projects: to plan, Manage, monitor and co-ordinate Health & Safety in pre-construction phases of projects, including identifying, eliminating, or controlling foreseeable risks and ensuring designers carry out their duties. In your role you will be required to attend project design team meetings and chair design risk workshops. You will be reviewing construction phase H&S plans received from Principal Contractors, also raising F10 notifications to the HSE on behalf of the client. Also visiting project sites prior to construction to carry out initial risk appraisals.

Requirements

• Excellent working knowledge of 2015 CDM regulations
• Membership of the Association of Project Safety (RMaPS, CMaPS, IMaPS)
• Full UK Driver’s License
• NEBOSH Construction or equivalent
• Previous experience in a similar role as a CDM Consultant / Principal Designer
• A demonstrable understanding of design and construction drawings.
• Membership with IOSH (TechIOSH, GradIOSH, CMIOSH, CFIOSH)
